Full Description
53-55 Fore Street: A timber-framed and plastered building with C18 and later external features. Probably with an earlier core. 2 storeys. 2 window range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars. 1 of the windows is 2-light with heavy glazing bars. The ground storey has a C20 shop. Roof tiled, with 2 gabled dormers (S1).
51 Fore Street: Also timber-framed but little is visible and determining the original structural relationship with No. 53-55 is difficult. The ground floor reveals no signs of original structure and there is no access to the first floor due to the unsafe condition of the building. Rear of no. 51 is another range running parallel to it. This building is also timber-framed but later; again there is no access to the first floor. Between this rear range and the rear wing behind no. 55 is another range (behind no. 53). This was probably added as a further extension to the already existing rear wing. It has a front facing and rear facing dormer window, and is jettied out towards the rear at first floor level (S2).
