Full Description

July 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A scattered group of Second World War military or civil defence features is visible as structures and earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs (S1)-(S6). At least four of the features (three at TL 8146 8755, one at TL 8136 8761) appear to be semi-sunken air raid shelters. Most of the features are not particularly clear on the aerial photographs and have been mapped by extent, but a number of clearer structures are evident (at TL 8144 8763 and TL 8113 8753). More recent photographs and lidar imagery (S7) would suggest that no above-ground remains survive.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 12th July 2017.
