Full Description

November 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A look-out tower is marked on a 1940s Ordnance Survey map (S1), and is visible as an extant structure on 1940s aerial photographs (such as S2). It has since been removed, and the site partially covered by a road, although a rather rectilinear, straight-sided earthwork visible at this location on imagery from a recent lidar survey (S3) could represent surviving remnants. It was probably one of the towers erected by the Forestry Commission in the 1940s as a fire prevention measure (S4).
