Full Description

January 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The site of rectilinear vegetation marks, and later possible earthworks, identified on aerial photographs (S1-S3), but of uncertain origin and archaeological significance. In the 1940s a series of rectilinear vegetation marks are apparent within the rough ground. These broadly follow the alignment of the excavated Roman fields and enclosures, see ELV 085 and ELV 120 for discussion. However the vegetation marks are felt more likely to relate to twentieth century land management. On later aerial photographs (S2-S3) possible bank and ditch boundaries, were tentatively identified, but could not be discerned clearly enough to warrant mapping. The possible presence of both these sets of uncertain features is noted however for future reference.
