Full Description
Scheduled Round Barrow (adjacent to house).
1935: Large tree covered bowl barrow (3 tumuli here on OS 1 inch map 1838)(S1). Also see BGL 011 & BGL 031.
1962: Bowl barrow completely obscured by tall bracken. It appears to be in good condition and has a diameter of about 20m and a maximum height of about 1m (S2).
1977: 1.98m high, 18m diameter. Covered with fir trees and brambles (S3). 1981: Condition fairly good. Five pine trees and some saplings on barrow, covered in bracken (S4).
1985: Approximately 1.7m high, 18m diameter; smooth profile except to S where mound is first slightly stepped then clipped by ditch and bank running approximately E-W between owner's land and small coniferous plantation. Covered with grass and gorse bushes, 6 mature conifers and 12 newly-planted conifer saplings, put in to replace trees that had blown down the previous winter. A few rabbit holes (S4).
