Full Description
Round Barrow. One of three shown on OS 1st ed map - see BGL 010 & 031. 1962: Bowl barrow completely hidden beneath bracken. No condition report or measurements possible (S1).
1977: Much flattened barrow, 0.48m high, circa 18m diameter. Under rough grass at edge of field, behind house. Pond on E side (S2). 1981: Mutilated on N side by farm track, ditch noted previously not now visible. Barrow covered with apparent layer of dumped soil and vegetable matter, this has heightened it to 4-5 ft (S3).
1985: Approx 1.5m high and of irregular shape (presumably because of material dumped on it between 1977 & 1981), no sign of ditch. In garden, planted with roses, rockery and ground cover plants; S side terraced with tiles into 3 levels, with 20-30 cms interval between them; shallow tile and wood steps up E side. Track to N; pond to E; row of birch trees at SW edge. N side is steep, as if clipped by track, but impossible to tell whether dumped material or original mound has been affected (S3).
1991: Private house/farm/garden. Planted by occupants who are conservationists with daffodils, also self seeded trees. Marked at risk because of trees upon it.
1993: Scheduled area revised (S3).
