Full Description
January 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Undated banks, ditches and trackways are visible as earthworks on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S1). Their purpose is not known. Most are relatively insubstantial. At the southern end, a possible braided trackway has been mapped by extent. More substantial boundaries, which are depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S2), have not been mapped as they fall outside the scope of the project. Some of the features overlap a complex area of post medieval boundaries surround High Lodge to their east (SHER STN 156), but the relationship between the two sites is not entirely clear. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the earthworks still survive.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 26th January 2018.
