Full Description

A 16th century 2-storey timber-framed and plastered building (S2). The building has been considerably altered, particularly at the front, and has changed from the original house as it was constructed to later becoming known as the 'Sun Inn' and now as a 20th century shop (ground floor) (S2). Now, the upper storey has sham timber-framing, there is a tiled roof, the interior has exposed heavy timber-framing, beams and studwork (particularly on the upper storey) and there is a 17th century plaster ceiling with floral ornamentation (visible in black and white photographs taken on site) (S1)(S2). There is also photographic and structural evidence of altered framing within the building - shown through evidence of a blocked doorway upstairs (S1).

Hand-drawn plans of the building show the interior structure and exterior shape of the building as well as highlighting notable features through annotation (S1).
