Full Description
2018: Geophysical survey recorded a narrow range of anomalies, the majority of which were categorised as being geologically derived. A few of the anomalies indicated archaeological potential, including a single ditch type response and a series of 7 pits (S1).
2018: Archaeological evaluation identified linear ditches, one of which was associated with a small amount of Roman pottery. Small pieces of probable prehistoric potteryand two pieces of struck flintfrom the same ditch are likely to be earlier residual finds. Small quantities of unstratified pottery from other trecnhes was dated to the later prehistoric, Late Iron Age/Roman transition and Roman periods (S2).
Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on details of discovery, (S2).
