Full Description
2018: Four undated ditches were identified during the evaluation. The general lack of dating evidence perhaps suggests that the ditches represent historic field system boundaries away from any foci of settlement. A small assemblage of un-stratified prehistoric flint was recovered from across the Site.
The large pit encountered in Trench 64 is likely to be a quarry pit for extracting local sand or clay. Similar pits have been identified during other phases of evaluation work within the vicinity of the Site and are thought to be relatively modern in date, (S1).
Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on details of discovery, (S2).
