Full Description

Archaeological evaluation identified remains relating to a phase of medieval occupation, consisting of a single pit, a small gully terminus and a large possible linear feature, relating to the spread of material across much of the trench (possibly a manured/dumped deposit extending into a field boundary) (S1).

2020:Archaeologica Monitoring over two visits. The first in August 2019 monitored the cutting of two service trenches close to the edge of Chapel Road, near to the site entrance. No finds or features were identified. The second visit was undertaken in May 2020 where the footing trenches of the dwelling were monitored. A single likely post-medieval to modern ditch was discovered aligned north-east to south-west running parallel with Chapel Road. No finds were recovered from any deposits during this visit. A field drain was observed in the subsoil that was contemporary with the feature (S2).
