Building record WLV 078 - Barns at Dairy Farm

A complex of barns stand in the grounds of the Dairy House Woolverstone, one of which has already been converted. The larger barn which includes a small attached barn to the west of the main barn, remains an unconverted agricultural building. The historical record shows that the barns were constructed between the late 19th and early 20th Century. The small barn thus appears to be contemporary with the Dairy House and Dairy Farm Barn was then built a number of years later. The barn complex was originally part of the Berners Estate, centred on Woolverstone Hall. The barns would have been used to house dairy cattle. The Dairy house contains a Victorian Dairy supposedly a copy of the dairy at the Royal Estate in Sandringham. In 1996 the two barns were still in use as cattlesheds, although this activity ceased a few years later (S1).
