Full Description

Square enclosure. Entrance in SE side, ? entrance in NW side. Ring ditch, HMY 002 to S (S1).
The possible Iron Age or Roman enclosure, referred to above, can be seen as a cropmark on an aerial photograph taken in 1977, centred on TM 28104218. The enclosure is rectangular in shape, circa 100m by 85m, and appears to have at least two entrances, one on its north-west side at TM 28064219 and one on its south-east side at TM 28144216. These entrances are not directly opposite each other. There are a number of other linear ditch features also showing as cropmarks in the same field although the majority, with the possible exception of the linear running east to west from its eastern corner, do not appear to be related to the enclosure. (S2) The western side of the enclosure is also visible as a cropmark on photographs taken in 1944 (S3) and the eastern side is visible on photographs taken in 1963. (S4)
See HER 3794 (HMY 002) for the ring ditch to the south of the enclosure
