Full Description

Ring ditch ?
A possible Bronze Age barrow is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, possibly forming over the remains of earthworks associated with a Ring Barrow, centred on circa TM277434 to the north-east of Newbourne village, Newbourne parish. The cropmark is very faint on the available photographs but appears to show a pale ring in the crop about 5 metres wide and circa 30 metres in diameter. The nature of the cropmark indicates it is forming over a bank rather than a ditch, and as no internal features are visible, this may support an interpretation as a Ring Barrow. This forms a group with NBN 009 and NBN 010. This group appears to be respected by the surrounding cropmark field system (NBN 033. (S1, S2)
