14 Market Place is a timber-framed, two-storied structure of the late-17th or early-18th century that was provided with an unusually fine classical façade and an additional storey in the early-19th century. Much of the historic fabric is concealed, but a good early-19th century staircase survives on the second floor and the ground floor ceiling retains chamfered joists that were originally exposed. The basement ceiling incorporates several carved and moulded joists that were re-used from a mid-16th century merchant’s house
