Full Description

2019: An archaeological evaluation revealed 73 features, the highest concentrations of which were present in the northern section of the site towards the River Lark. The majority of dateable features were of Neolithic date, while evidence from later phases of activity was limited. Two post hole structures may represent evidence of Neolithic occupation on the site. Small qunatities of Late Neolithic pottery were present within some of the post holes. Neolithic struck flint was also found on the site. In addition, a charcoal sample from a pit produced a C14 date placing it in the Late Neolithic. Layer deposits were recorded across the site in patches and might represent remnants of a preserved soil possibly of Neolithic origin based on the presence of struck flints. However, one of these layer deposits contained a sherd of medieval pottery which could be intrusive (S1)
