Full Description

Round Barrow - Part of Seven Hills group (see also BUC 006, 007, FXL 011, NAC 004-006, 008-013).
1764: Barrows opened. "Ashes were found in some. One disclosed pieces of apparently human bone" (R2)(S4).
Numerous (more than 7) round tumuli, some of considerable size. The 1836 1 inch OS map marks 11 of them (S4).
1931: 'somewhat indefinite, 75 paces round and four feet high, bearing bracken and a couple of pine trees' (description could be of NAC 008)(S1).
1962: In good condition. 21m diameter and 1m high. Within a wood but clear of trees (S2).
1976: Tree and bracken covered. 20m in diameter and 1.87m high (S3). 1981: Large, spread, 18m diameter (S4).
1986: Under mature oak, with some bracken and young sweet chestnut. Some old stumps of felled trees. NE edge cuty by verge of A45. Dimensions as recorded above (S4).
1993: Adjoins S verge of the A1156, overlooking the road, stands to a height of 1m, covering a sub-circular area measuring circa 26m NS by 24m EW. Scheduled area redefined to include NAC 008 in November 1993 (S4).
