Full Description

2004: A trial trench evaluation was carried out in advance of the construction of an agricultural irrigation reservoir. Three worked flints were recovered from pit fill 0029. These consisted of a flake, a blade-like flake and an unidentified object which may be an axe-shaped core of later prehistoric date, or possibly a rough-out for a Mesolithic tranchet axe. The latter was heat-damaged. Burnt flints, sandstone pebbles and chalk were found in four contexts. The largest groups, and those most likely to be prehistoric, were from pits in trenches 16 and 17. (S1).

Descriptions of finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on older version on this record, (S2).
