Monument record WHR 134 - Bronze Age field boundaries, storage pits, possible post holes and possible cremation or pyre on Land To The North and East of Bobbits Lane

Evaluation identified part of a rectilinear ditch system, probably the remains of Bronze Age field boundaries. One of the ditches in the south-eastern part of the site was more substantial, suggesting that it may be part of a stock enclosure. Potential Bronze Age activity was identified in the northern part of the evaluation area, in the form of a storage pit and several possible postholes (S1).

Evaluation and excavation uncovered evidence of predominantly prehistoric activity across 2 areas. A small assemblage of Early Bronze Age Beaker pottery was recovered from a group of 4 pits. Part of a field system, possibly of Middle Bronze Age date, extended across the 2 excavation areas and included ditches and discrete features, and a possible trackway and ditched boundaries. 2 pits, which truncated the possible trackway, contained the remains of a pyre or possible cremation (S2).
