2006: As part of a study of Suffolk church chests being undertaken by David Sherlock, several were assessed for dendrochronological potential and a detailed study was carried out on three chests. One core was extracted from the front right stile, and a second from the front centre board. The first yielded a 103-year sequence to the heartwood-sapwood boundary and the second a 76-year sequence, also to the heartwood-sapwood boundary. The two series matched each other very well and the plots suggest that the two boards were derived from the same tree. The series were combined into a 103-year master sequence. This however failed to give consistent acceptable matches with dated reference material and remains undated. Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2006 (S2).
