Summary

The cottage is the southern end of a long timber framed range, though it is part of the 15th century range it may have been completely rebuilt in the 16th or 17th century. It lies at the southern end of a 15th century hall, known as the Celerer's Hall, and probably originally provided the service room to the hall. The cottage consists of two cells with an outshut to the east, the northern of the two cells is built of ligh timber framing and has a crown post roof. To the south of the early cell is another of comparable dimension, added in the 1930s, a modern outshut has been added to the east side of the house.

Cellarers Cottage, The Street, Stoke by Clare, is a 15th/16th century timber framed and plastered hall house with a north gabled cross wing and tiled roof. The front was altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. A 19th and 20th century shop window has been inserted into the front of the building. Grade 2*. (S2)
