Full Description
Archaeological evaluation identified archaeological deposits in six out of Seventeen trenches. Modern disturbance was identified in three, with the remaining eight being blank. Twenty-six sherds of pottery dating to the Middle Iron Age were recovered from a deposit filling a small natural hollow at the south-western corner of the site representing a possible buried soil horizon. Another single sherd of Iron Age pottery was recovered from a ditch located close to the eastern edge of the site. The remainder of the features recorded, four ditches and three pits remain undated. A sample taken of the deposit showed charred cereal grains and wood charcoal to be present (S1).
