Full Description
The seven-bay radar building of RAF Rougham is situated about 24 metres south of Rougham Tower Museum (see HOB UID 1390384). It was built during the period of 1942 to 1943 and was constructed of rendered brick with projecting steel columns on all elevations. It features original crittall casement windows and the gable roof is covered with corrugated covering, possibly asbestos. The building consists of four rooms: the main eastern room contained the radar equipment; the two central rooms housed the safe and radio equipment, the main western room offered clear visibility of the airfield. The roof structure is a complete metal 'A' frame. After the closure of the airfield in 1948 the radar building has been restored in 2004. Listed.
