Full Description

The archaeological excavation revealed natural deposits at heights between 5.68m OD and to the east and 2.95m OD to the west. Remains of two Abbey buildings with associated floor surfaces were uncovered, with the surrounding area shown to consist of agricultural /horticultural deposits cut by four medieval ditches and a pit. Post medieval features included several walls and two brick built tanks likely relating to farming activities and the conversion of the Abbey remains into farmyard barns and domestic structures. Post-medieval drains and services were recorded, along with a modern pit to the east of the site, showing the post depositional impact upon the archaeological remains to be limited (S1).
