`Kessingland, near Lowestoffe, 28th Jan: The following vessels were driven on shore between this place and Lowestoffe during the gale of 26th inst., viz...VENUS, of Sunderland...cargo saved with little damage. it is now blowing strong from SW.' (1)

`Lowestoffe, 9th Feb:... It blew very hard at ENE all last night, and the vessels on the strand have suffered much. The UNION, of Aberdeen, and VENUS, of Sunderland, it is feared are bilged.' (2)
