Full Description

'The LOUISA, Seegreen, of Carlescroon, from London for Newcastle, was drove ashore and lost near Corton in Norfolk, but the crew are saved.' (2)

'Yarmouth, October 28. In the hard gale of wind on Tuesday night...

'The LOUISA of Carlscroon in Sweden, Jonas Siogroon master, with tobacco and leather, from London to Newcastle and Carlscroon, was stranded near Corton in Suffolk, the men saved, but ship and cargo likely to be lost.' (3)

'Newcastle, Nov. 6...The LOUISA, of Carlescroon, Jonas Siegreen, from London for this port, with tobacco, leather, rice, coffee and molasses, was drove ashore, at Corton on the Suffolk coast, and stranded.' (4)

Original Dutch:

'Amsterdam den 8 November...By Corten in Norfok is gebleven het Zweedsche Schip de LOUIZA, gevoerd door Schipper Segreen van Londen na Nieucasteel, het Volk is geborgen, maar het Schip is weg.'

Translated by compiler:

'Amsterdam, 8th November...The Swedish ship LOUIZA, skippered by Segreen, from London to Newcastle, remains near Corton. The crew are saved, but the ship lost.' (5)
