Full Description
Cropmarks of a possible Bronze or Iron Age curvilinear enclosure visible on English Heritage Reconnaissance aerial photographs at TL 787503. The feature is egg shaped with a maximum length of 190m (northeast-southwest), a maximum width of 122m (east-west), and encloses 1.7ha. At the enclosure’s north-western edge a ditch can be seen extending for 44m running northeast-southwest. The cutting of this feature by a field system which is in alignment with more recent field systems (NRHE 1585713) makes it more likely that this feature was created and then went out of use even earlier than the field which cut it, which itself was out of use by 1843 (S1).
