Full Description
ENGLISH BARQUE, 1855
Status: Casualty
Vessel stranded and lost in wind conditions ESE force 8, with heavy seas. A total of seven vessels were either driven on shore or else onto the shoals off Aldeburgh, and it was the local lifeboat, un-named at the time, later to become the PASCO in 1866, that rescued the crew of nine. The crews of the other vessels were nearly all saved using lines thrown by rescuers from the beach. (1)

`Aldboro' 5th Nov - ...The CORREGIO, Harnes, of and from Poole, for Hartlepool with pit props, which came ashore here on the 3rd, has broken up.' (3)
