Full Description

1821 wreck of English brig which foundered after grounding on the Cutler Sand, en route from Shields to London; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`Harwich, 22nd Dec. It has blown hard all day from the W by S & WSW, as also the whole of last night, with heavy squalls of rain and sleet.' (1)

`The FRIENDSHIP, Johnson, from Shields to London, struck on the Cutler Sand, near Harwich, on Saturday, and sunk in deep water. Crew saved.' (1)

FRIENDSHIP of Sunderland sinks in deep water after having struck a sand. (2)

`The brig FRIENDSHIP, Johnson, of and from Shields to London, struck upon the Cutler Sand, on Saturday evening last, and sunk in deep water. Crew saved and arrived at Harwich.' (3)
