ENGLISH BRIGANTINE, 1875
Status: Casualty

`The Court of Inquiry found that this vessel foundered owing to the want of necessary repairs. She had been damaged on a previous voyage. The owner stated that the JANE INNES was a `good model' and that she was strongly and well built and that she was laden `very bold' (220 tons cargo, trimmed in the usual way) and he continued that her loss was due to her having been pierced by her own anchor. Vessel foundered and lost in wind conditions SW x W force 3.' (1)
