Full Description

BRITISH CRAFT, 1727
Status: Casualty

London, Nov. 9...The ST JOHN, Nicholas Whittington, from Longsound in Norway, for Lynn, was lately lost on the coast of Suffolk, and only one man drowned. (1)

NB: King's Lynn is north of Suffolk; the vessel could have been blown off course, but it is equally possible that `Suffolk' was inserted in error for `Norfolk'. The named location of Southwold has been selected as representing the approximate mid-point of the Suffolk coastline.

Master: Nicholas Whittington (1)
