Vessel stranded and lost in wind conditions NE force 7. (1)(2)

`Lowestoft...Yesterday morning we had a heavy gale from the north-east, with snow. At half-past 6 the brig J C, of Portsmouth, William Hunt master, parted from her anchors and drove on the beach at Kessingland. The hands were rescued by the coastguard with their rocket apparatus.' (3)
