Full Description

1669 wreck of English cargo vessel which stranded on the Barnard Sand en route from London with piece goods and a coach; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`Richard Bower to the same [Williamson]. A vessel with piece goods from London, was cast away on the Barnard Sand. A coach and several goods, as also a woman, and some others of the company, were driven on shore at Corthy.' [sic - for Corton?] (1)(2)

NB: Source (1) states the date of loss as the year of 1669 only; however, the wreck was reported in the original source [standardised to modern "New Style" reckoning] on 04.01.1669. Source (1) also states the nationality of the vessel as English, not apparently stated in the original source.
