Full Description
1852 wreck of English brig which stranded on the Holm Sand en route from Kingston-upon-Hull to London; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty
`The ASIA, Welsh, from Hull to London, is on shore on - Sands off Yarmouth, with 7 feet water in her hold.' (2)
`Lowestoffe, 2nd May: The ASIA, Welsh...on shore on the Holm Sands, has been abandoned by her crew; she has lost her masts, and the salvors have commenced stripping her.' (3)
`After going ashore found there were seven feet of water in the hold. She took assistance, but could not be got off due to the wind and sea both making (sic). She was therefore abandoned, her crew landing on the beach. The wreck is being stripped of sails, rigging, etc.' (4)
