Full Description

1811 wreck of English brig which stranded on the Newcome Sand en route from Shields to London. Laden with coal and glass, she was a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty

`The FRIENDSHIP, Jeffries, of and from Shields to London, was lost on the Newcome Sand, near Lowestoffe, on Wednesday night. Crew saved.' (2)

`On Wednesday se'nnight, the brig FRIENDSHIP, of Shields, Jefferies, master, for London, laden with coals and glass, struck upon the Newcome Sand, off Lowestoff; the crew, consisting of six men and six boys, were all saved, and a few of her materials. Unless the weather proves very favourable, there is no probability of any part of her cargo being saved.' (3)

`The FRIENDSHIP, Jefferies, of Shields, for London, with coals and glass, struck upon the Newcaome Sand, off Lowestoff, on the 24th ult. The crew all saved, and a few of her materials.' (4)
