Full Description
1804 wreck of English brig which stranded on the north part of Lowestoft beach on her passage from Sunderland or Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Ipswich with coal; a wooden sailing vessel.
Status: Casualty
`The BROTHERS...the ADEONA...from Sunderland; the ENTERPRIZE, Hill, from ditto for Ipswich; the FRIENDS INCREASE...a Portuguese schooner...a ship in ballast...and the NANCY...were driven on shore near Yarmouth 12th instant.' (1)
`Newcastle, February 18...The ENTERPRIZE, of and for Ipswich, John Hill, master, is on shore off Lowestoft. Crew saved, but it is feared the ship will be lost.' (3)
`Yarmouth, Feb. 13. As the gale of yesterday continued, the following ships came on shore, viz...Sunday morning, the brig ENTERPRIZE, of and for Ipswich, from Newcastle, laden with coals, John Hill master, is on shore on the North part of Lowestoff beach; the crew saved, the ship and cargo, it is likely, will be lost.'
