Full Description

Romano-British potsherds, several pieces of brick, a ? box-flue tile, and a coin of Claudius Gothicus (AD 268-70) were found in 1887 at a depth of 4ft when digging a grave for a horse in the centre of a nine acre field called 'Calves' Pasture', at Wherstead. (The site of the Roman coin hoard (TM 13 NE 1) was about 200 yds from this site). (R1)
