Full Description

2005: The 1818 Enclosure Map shows the site is partitioned into various allotments and fields. The Hodskinson map of 1783 shows a small building named Lower Bridge in the lcoation of ERL 062. The site is located within the area of Low Warren.
There is some potential for prehistoric remains, Roman and Saxon activity. During the medieval period the site was part of a medieval rabbit warren which is enclosed by a bank (LKH 145) on the northern edge of the site. Other than the bank there is little potential for medieval evidence. The only known HER find spot within the site is the post-medieval hunting lodge called Lower Lodge (ERL 062) that was probably stone built warener's house documented on early maps but now no longer extant. Remains of this structure may survive below ground. (S1)
