Full Description
Baptist Church built in 1835. In 1839 a one storey building was erected to the side of the church which began as a Sunday School and then later as a school or non-conformists. The main building is of a grey gault brick to the Northwest, Northeast and Southwest elevations; and of red brick to the Southeast elevation. Windows consist of six double casements of cast iron to timber frames with Gothic arched detail to the upper lights which are present to Northwest and Southeast elevations. Four single casements of cast iron to timber frames with Gothic arched detail to the upper lights are present to Northeast and Southwest elevations. A central main entrance door (timber vertical boarded) is present to the Northwest elevation. A second entrance door (timber vertical boarded) is present to the side Southwest Elevation. Painted stone sub-sills and lintels are present to windows and doors throughout. The roof is hipped duo pitch arrangement covered with slates.
Internally the ceiling is partially vaulted with part sloping and part horizontal, and majority is of original lime and lath plaster. Walls are generally of lime plaster finish. Floors are suspended timber construction, with timber floor boards (S1).
