Full Description

The evaluation revealed several archaeological features across the site, namely ditches, pits, and postholes. The ditches are likely the remains of boundary ditches that might relate to
nearby Roman settlement (BSD028). Several postholes were located in trench 1, they do not appear to relate to each other, and no finds were recovered from there fills however a contemporary date to the ditches encountered cannot be discounted. A rake pit for a Kiln (which lies beyond the limits of the trench) was identified in trench 9. The presence of a
kiln (which are generally sited away from the main domestic settlement area) within the confines of the site, suggests that this and the other recorded features, are on the periphery of the main Roman domestic community (S1).
