Full Description

Former site of the Bures St Mary parish workhouse. Records of 2 cottages in this location being used as housing for poor from at least 1706. In 1770 the cottages are converted into a larger workhouse with capacity for 50 inmates. The workhouse was closed in th 1830s and demolished. The two buildings present on the site today, The Junipers and The Manse (both listed), were built on the site soon after. (S1)(S2)(S3)
