Full Description
Anglo Saxon burial site (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s).
The finds were made when a pit was opened by the farmer and consisted of two long brooches of interesting types and pottery from cinerary urns, believed to contain ashes and calcined bones.
The artefacts remained in the farmer, (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), possession and after his death were given by his widow to (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) a master at Hongton School. Basil Brown saw the artefacts in (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) possession but stated 17 September 1964 - "no information as to who has the finds" (S1).
This site was previously located MISC AS in the HER.
