Full Description
Lead coffin, enclosed in a wooden one, angle irons preserved. Male skeleton (S2). Two grey ware folded beakers, a glass bottle. ? C3-C4 (OS). Found in the farm stockyard.
Basil Brown was part of the Ipswich Museum team which excavated and removed the coffin and its contents on 7th May 1952. He gives details of this, a cutting from The Evening Star and ten photographs of the coffin and site (S1).
In 2011 a telephone caller suggested that a second coffin was found but not reported in the same location shortly after the excavation of the first one. (S3)
