Full Description
'Fox's Farm' (site of). Moat.
1839: Small farm owned by Charles Fox, occupied by John Canham, from Tithe Apportionment. Small farmhouse made of clay lump under pantiled roof with a cellar, later converted into 2 cottages and now demolished. Moat survives, partly water-filled, NW corner filled in. Site now used as a drainage contractor's yard. Originally rectangular and on the edge of Metfield Common. C14-C15 and some PMed pottery recovered from the small triangular field adjacent to the W side of the moat (S1).
