Full Description
Copper tanged dagger and skull. Found in sandpit, one and a quarter miles from Hundon Village on road to Clare, 600 yards from Chilton (S1,S2). (N.B. Cited findspot (S2) relates to pits (?mainly) in Hundon parish (which are described as 'Old Gravel Pits' on 1904 OS map). Description of pit is actually more likely to refer to CLA 011(SSF5965) pit, which is described as 'Gravel Pit' on 1904 map and has been considerably enlarged by time of 1958 OS map.

Presumed replica (no record in BM so made more than 30 years ago) in Clare Museum, (photo in file)(S3).
Fom NHRE record:
TL 749476 An Early Bronze Age tanged copper dagger of the Beaker period was found with a "skull in a sandpit 1 1/4 miles from Hundon ...." in 1928. Presented to the British Museum Acc No 1938 3-4 1 in 1938. Moore suggested that the dagger had accompanied a burial; of which only the skull remained (S2)
