Full Description

Sherd of IA pottery, although Basil Brown notes that it may be earlier, found near site of extensive black patch on field. The site is on the W side of the A1088 practically opposite the Ixworth Thorpe ballast pit site (IXT 002) and on the same farm which Basil thought was Stackings Farm (now known as Abbey Farm, Ixworth). An old workman told him that pottery had been found on the same field many years before and had been kept for a time but had since been thrown away. Mr Haddow, the farmer, had sold the farm in 1962 and it is not clear whether the find had been made before or after this date (S1).

Formerly recorded as IXT MISC
