Full Description

1900: Graver/Burin. 'Broom Covert' (S1). Found in 1900 on surface of Broom Covert. 4.5 inches long, 1.5 inches across. Working edge has been renewed more than once. Milk white in colour, surface original - not from a deposit. Striking platform reduced by subsequent trimming giving butt end a neat semi-oval outline.

This item is from the Forest eath Higham, not the Babergh Higham. "Broom Covert" is marked on the 2nd edition OS map.

Billington, (S2) regards this as a Late Upper Palaeolithic example, but mis identifies this as being from the Babergh district Higham.

Formerly recorded as HGM MISC, HIG MISC, HGM 032
