Full Description
Pump House in Centre of Village. Scheduled Monument.
Small octagonal brick building in centre of houses that form the village on the Rushbrooke Estate. Rushbrooke Hall, now a ruin, dates from circa 1550. The Pump House may be circa 1600. Seven sides have blank recesses with pointed heads - door in 8th. Roof formed by corballing out, finial on top. Listed Grade II building (S1).
Pump House was originally in the centre of Rushbrooke Green (see RBK 013).
1991: Well protected by Pump House, brick structure of curious design, good condition. Pump itself of little interest.
1998: Recommended for retaining scheduled status (S2).
