Full Description
A small depression, evidently a hearth, seen in the cliff face along the river Stour in 1946 by Basil Brown. It was trowel scraped but no bones or pottery were found. The hearth lay 2 feet below the suface and was 2 feet in diameter, 1 foot at the base. It showed as a red and black outline in the sandy brickearth of the cliff face (S1).
Re-vsisted as part of coastal and estuarine survey, 2002. More extensive than originally thought and plotted in wrong parish - see new record BNT 034. S2
