Full Description
Lower portion of blade of palstave of 'shield pattern' type, 6.2cm long, maximum width 3.6cm. Looks like a casting with insufficient metal - surface of 'break' has rounded undulations with 'pin prick' size holes. However no casting flashes on sides and blade appears to have been used. ? used as a chisel or perhaps as a fuller in metal working. Found in ploughsoil near Cattishall level crossing 1972.
